Check-up Time!

Caden turned 2 months old on Sunday which meant it was time for him to get shots. The boys had an appointment on Monday. I also had remembered the doctor telling me that Caleb would also be getting shots. Mama went with me to take the boys to the doctor because Greg was working. I had already given both of them Tylenol before I left home, so they would be ready. Here is how things went.

Caleb was weighed first. Let's see...he repeatedly moved the bar on the scale and the nurse had problems weighing him. I finally had to give him my ponytail to play with and keep him occupied. He ran around the room. He used the ear thingy as a phone. He got 2 shots...he screamed... Caleb now weighs 21.10 lbs and is 33.25 inches tall.

Caden got 3 shots...he cried..but calmed down quickly. The doctor is watching his hips because he was a breached baby, they will sometimes have hip problems if they are scrunched up in the womb, which he was because he was soooo big. He could possible have an x-ray in September, but for now, she said things look fine with his hips. Caden weighed 11.3 lbs and is 23.25 inches tall. He is in the 50% for his weight and the 75% for his height. I took him back to the doctor on Friday for his rotavirus vaccine and he had gained 3 more ounces. He is such a big boy!

Both boys did great after their shots and were not fussy at all!

Livin' in gangsters paradise

Caleb must have been pretending he was a gangster today. His shorts were sagging most of the day. Really, he's not doing it on purpose, he just doesn't have anything to hold up his pants and shorts. Thank goodness for adjustable waist and belts.

Our Little Monet

I was in the dining room today and heard Caleb saying his favorite word, "Uh-Oh." Greg was in the kitchen getting his lunch ready for work. Caleb had found a crayon and had colored on the refrigerator. He pointed to his drawing and said, "Uh-Oh." The pictures have a glare, but you can kinda see his artwork when I turned off the flash. Good thing when I painted the walls, I bought paint that is easy to clean.

Survivor Comes to Baytown

My precious niece, Moriah, came over last week to spend the night with Alyssa. Alyssa and Moriah play well together and Alyssa enjoys having her come to our house. Alyssa had been asking me if we could go eat Chinese food. Greg was working a lot, so he said we could go without him. We decided to go while Moriah was here. Alyssa and Moriah (Moriah was the leader of this) decided to try a stuffed mussel and a crawfish. They licked the mussel, but decided it was too spicy. They then decided to try a crawfish. Yes, the head was still attached. They attempted to break it open with a knife and fork. I told them to rip the head off. Juice splattered everywhere and of course, they were grossed out. Moriah ate a bite of the crawfish. That girl will try anything!!!!

Night-Night

Caleb fell asleep one afternoon outside of my room. He was sitting up and couldn't keep his eyes opened. It was sweet, but yet fumnny at the same time. I picked him up and of course at that very moment, Caden decided to cry. I was lucky enough to spend a few precious moments holding both my babies as they slept in my arms.

Summer Evening Fun at the Park

I took the kids to the park one evening while Greg was at work. We went to the park by mama and daddy's house because it was a shaded park and that way if they wanted to join us, it would be close. Here are some pictures and a video of Caleb swinging.

It's hot!!!

I took this picture on July 2, 2009. My car actually read the temperature at 104 degrees!

What goes around, comes around

Caleb is so much like Greg. The things he does is how I imagine Greg as a young boy....getting into things, etc. Last night the kids and I went to the store. I pushed Caden in the shopping cart and Alyssa pushed Caleb. Caleb walked around the meat department. He picked up a huge brisket and carried it around thinking I needed to buy it. As I was putting the groceries on the counter to check out, I noticed a small sliced Cajun brisket. Of course Caleb had put it in the cart when I wasn't looking. My sister and I did the same thing to mama when she took us shopping only we would put beer in her cart and walk away....and we were in high school when we did it. Can't wait until Caleb is older. Who knows what will be placed in the cart.

Little Water Bugs

Tonight the kids and I went swimming at Papa and Memaw's house. It was the first time this summer we have been in the pool. I have been waiting until is was cooler in the evening to put the boys in the pool. I know most people wouldn't put a 6 week old in the pool, but I'm not most people. Let's face it, he was in water for 38.5 weeks. Caleb got in the pool a couple of times last summer, but was always tired when we went swimming. Well, this year he loved it. You can probably tell by the huge smile on his face. He floated around by himself with the floaties. Maybe next year he can start to learn how to swim.

Brotherly Love

Caleb loves his brother. He is always kissing Caden and giving him hugs and when I say always, I really mean always. The other day Caden was crying and I guess Caleb had enough and told him to "shut up". I didn't acknowledge him because I knew he would continue telling Caden to shut up. Greg was in our room with both boys and Caden was in the play pen crying. Caleb got a blanket and put it on Caden and then nodded his head at Greg as if he were saying, "I took care of it." Caleb really does love Caden. I have a picture to prove it!
