Happy Father's Day

Daddy and his boys.

Daddy, Mama, Caden
Daddy, Caleb

Happy Father's Day Greg! Thank you for taking care of my baby boys. Caleb admires you so much. He loves his daddy and is constantly asking for you when you are at work. He is so excited to see you when you get home. I know Caden will be the same way. I know you look forward to taking them on vacations, hunting, and fishing. I love you so much!

Caden's first bath

Caden's belly button fell off at 2 weeks. It scared me at first because we had just gotten home from Moody Gardens and I noticed blood on his shirt when I was changing his diaper. Once I pulled his shirt up, I noticed his belly button was stuck to it. I gave him his first bath on June 11th. He loved it! Actually, he slept the entire time. He continues to love his baths. Caleb is the same way. I tell Caleb he is going to take a bath and he runs to our bathtub.

Future little hunter

Caleb helped Greg get his deer stand ready one night. Won't be long and he can go fishing and hunting with daddy. After that it won't be long until Caden can go.

Moody Gardens

We went to Moody Gardens when Caden was 2 weeks old. Since he is so young this year, any vacation plans we may have considered, were put on hold (a trip to the river). Anyway, we decided to stay at the Moody Gardens Hotel so we could spend two days looking at the exhibits. I thought that would be a lot easier with a 21 month old and a 2 week old. Here are some pictures from our trip. Caden isn't in any of the pictures because I carried him in the sling the entire time. He loved it! He slept the entire time.

Family Photo Shoot

Today we had our pictures taken at Sears. I mainly scheduled the appointment for Caden's newborn pictures. I took the opportunity to have everyone's pictures made.

When Caleb was a newborn, I had a picture taken of him with a bow on his back. I had the same done with Caden.

The first picture is of Caleb and the second is of Caden.

Caden - Week 1 & 2

These are some pictures of Caden. He will be 2 weeks old on Tuesday.

Monkey See, Monkey Do

Greg has a habit of showing the food in his mouth while we are eating. He usually does this when I am not looking. Well, Caleb has recently started showing the food in his mouth after he sees his daddy show the food in his mouth. No, this is not something I want my child to do, but I have to admit, it was pretty funny watching Caleb open his mouth to show his daddy the food in his mouth.

Caden and eating

WARNING..... THIS POST IS ABOUT NURSING

I have made a great effort to try and nurse Caden. I was not successful with Caleb for several reasons. I didn't get to bond with him for the first week since he was in the NICU, I knew I was going back to work after 6 weeks, and Caleb did not have strong sucking skills. It took Caleb about 1 hour to eat just 1 ounce. We really had to work with him to eat. I began supplementing with formula because he was not gaining weight. Well, Caden knew how to eat as soon as he was born. The nurses in the nursery told me he was a good eater. The lactation specialist at San Jacinto Hospital is wonderful. She spent A LOT of time with me working on getting Caden to nurse. She has also already called me twice since I have been home to check on me and even told me I could come in for more help if I wanted it. She has been very encouraging. Anyway, Caden is doing well with nursing. I am also taking the herbal supplement, Fenugreek, which I believe has helped increase my milk supply. Caden latches on and what he does not get out, I pump out and freeze or put it in the fridge. I am taking Caden to his doctor this week for a weight check. We will see if he is gaining weight. He has not had to have formula in several days.

My 2 boys

Caleb was 6 lbs 9 oz when he was born and 19.5 inches long. Caden was 9 lbs and 15 ounces and 19 inches long when he was born. We are talking about a 3 lb 6 oz difference between my two boys. I was looking at Caleb's baby book this morning to see how old he was when he was close to 10 pounds. At 2 months, he was 9 lbs and 7 ounces. I'm thinking that Caden will soon pass Caleb up in size. Before Caden was born, I bought 1 box of newborn diapers from Babies r Us and was given a package of newborn diapers. I had the boys room organized before I went to the hospital and opened up the package of newborn diapers to have them ready for when we got home. The newborn diapers go up to 10 pounds. Basically, Caden outgrew newborn diapers while he was still in my stomach. I exchanged the diapers yesterday (after struggling to get them to take them back without a receipt) for stage 1 diapers. They fit so much better.

Babies r Us was our first outing as a family of four. Caleb had not been in the truck with Caden. He did very well sitting next to his baby brother. He did take Caden's blanket away. Surely he didn't remember that was once his blanket. Of course I had to dress the boys alike. They looked so cute in their "All American Hunk" outfits. I'm glad I had a boy because it would have been hard to dress Caleb and a baby girl alike.

Caleb continues to love on Caden. He loves his baby. He helps out by giving me his pacifier when he thinks Caden needs it.
