Update

Mama had another biopsy on Monday to look at the other spots. Those spots were also cancerous. She has decided to have the lumps removed and undergo 5 weeks of radiation. She has the surgery scheduled for 3/2. She has to get her potassium levels up before they can perform surgery. She has several appointments scheduled at MD Anderson in the next few weeks.

This past week

I decided to go ahead and update everyone on what has been going on the past week. My mom had an abnormal mammogram during December which resulted in her having another mammogram and ultrasound. She still did not get the results we were hoping for. She had a biopsy 1/22. At that time, her doctor believed it was in her best interest to get a second opinion at MD Anderson . She spent last Tuesday at MD Anderson undergoing a lot of additional testing to determine if she had cancer. She asked the radiologist if he could tell her anything and he said it wasn't great news, but the good news was that it was not in her lymph nodes. I stayed as strong as I could while talking with her, but after I hung up the phone, it was a different story. I was upset all day Wednesday thinking about what she would find out at her appointment on Thursday. It really upset me that she may not be around for my kids and they would not have the privilege of knowing her. I had a literacy meeting Thursday morning so I was able to be distracted without being distracted in front of the kids in my class. She found out that she has stage 0 cancer which I guess if you are going to have it, stage 0 is what one would hope for. She is having another biopsy today to check a couple other spots. After she finds out the results from today, she will decide her course of treatment. The family spent the weekend together and everyone seemed to be upbeat.

Wheel of Fortune

Caleb's favorite show is Wheel of Fortune. This has been his favorite since he was just months old. He has yet to get into Barney, Elmo, etc. As soon as we turn on his show, he begins clapping and says, "Yeah!!!" He will stare at the TV. I remember when he was about 6-7 months old and was extremely fussy. I turned on his show and he immediately turned his head and focused on the TV. He stopped crying. It is funny that he will be 17 months old on Friday and loves to watch The Wheel.

Potty Mouth

I have been telling Greg for sometime to watch what he says in front of Caleb because one day he would be repeating the things he hears. Well, on Saturday I was cooking dinner and my hands were real messy. Greta began barking and was wanting out of her kennel. She had just gone back in her kennel from being outside for awhile. I screamed "Shut up!" Greg had just gotten home from work and was checking his email in our room with the door closed. Caleb then proceeded to tell Greta to shut up. I wasn't sure I actually heard him correctly until Greg came out of our room and asked if Caleb had just told Greta to shut up. I knew then that what I really heard was right. I guess I am the one who needs to watch their mouth because once again tonight, the same thing happened.

Not a great Sunday

Today was not the best Sunday I have had. I had a great day at church and then a yummy lunch at Tia Maria's. Caleb was very tired while we were waiting on our food. He woke up at 6:30 this morning. Apparently he sleeps until 9:30 when Greg keeps him, but I have yet to experience that. Anyway he was extra sleepy. I held him for a little bit until my in-laws came to eat at the same restaurant and my mother-in-law held him for me. By the time we got home, he was awake, but still tired. I tried to lay him down, but he cried... a lot. He is also cutting 8 teeth right now. I have to leave a little before 5pm to get Alyssa home by 6pm. Caleb only took about a 20 minute nap which was not enough. He cried some of the way there. It began to rain and then hail. Really hard! I got Alyssa dropped off and had sent Greg a text to let him know it was hailing. He told me if it was bad to find someone to stop and take cover so the car wouldn't get damaged. I got this car and the end of October, so we didn't want it to get messed up. Well everyone else had the same idea and every gas station, car wash, pharmacy, and bank had cars taking cover. Thankfully as of right now when we checked my car in the garage, we did not see any noticeable dings. Caleb screamed the entire way home... for 1 hour. Needless to say, once I got home, I was beat. I don't ever want to drive through a hailstorm with a screaming baby ever again.
